Kathmandu, Sept. 26: The meeting of the National Reconstruction Authority Director’s Committee on Monday decided to distribute the first tranche of relief amount- Rs 50,000- to the earthquake survivors by October 6.
The committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at PM’s Office took this decision, said Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali to the media.
“The government has decided again to add Rs 100,000 more to the previous commitment of Rs 200,000 as the relief amount to the earthquake survivors. Rs 50,000 will be provided in the first installment of the grant while Rs 150,000 in the second and remaining Rs 100,000 in the final installment,” CEO Gyawali, added.
According to him, next decision the committee made was- decentralization of offices in the regional level in the district levels to make the distribution of relief amount more effective and efficient.
Similarly, the NRA is to accelerate the programmes of the development of integrated settlement and relocation of settlements. The intended surveys as done in Kathmandu Valley would be conducted in various 17 districts that suffered the earthquake.
The second tranche of the grant would be provided after the engineers mobilized in the affected area certify the damp proof course of houses.
CEO Gyawali also informed that process was initiated to get the decision on providing Rs 300,000 be passed from the committee before submitting it to the Council of Ministers. RSS
