AMMAN, Nov. 5: (Xinhua) — The number of American trainers killed in an exchange of fire in Jordan rose to three, the state-run PETRA news agency reported.Two American trainers were killed in Jordan on Friday in exchange of fire, a source at the Jordan Armed Forces said earlier.
A third American trainer who was injured early Friday in the incident also died at hospital later Friday.The source said a Jordanian officer was injured in the incident that occurred on Friday morning, adding the American trainers did not obey orders from guards at the entrance of an airbase in Al Jafr area.
The army said investigation got under way. The U.S. embassy in Amman said it was following up on the incident. “We have received reports about a security incident involving US personnel. We are in contact with the appropriate Jordanian authorities. We will report more information when available,” the U.S. embassy said in a statement on its website.
